BIG update

I want to update all my current projects at once, so I'll feel caught up. )
I have a couple Mirabilia projects I haven't posted on my blog at all, not sure why I guess I just didn't get around to it. They are Elizabeth and the Lavender Sky, and Scent of Old Roses. Elizabeth is straight stitching - no beads or Kreinik. She was my travel project, only got worked on now and then - but I decided she's too pretty to hide away most of the time. I'd like to finish her soon. Scent of Old Roses is exactly opposite - TONS of beads and bling(which I love)
And last but not least - GK Still Life With Fruit update. I'm hopping around a bit on it now, because I've gotten to some intense confetti. I get tired of it easily, soI  need to take breaks and stitch something easier. The effect of all that confetti is amazing though!

Finally back to Still Life with Fruit!

Finished page 18 today. Woowee, confetti city! The metallic scrollwork on the vase makes for some intense stitching, but the effect is beautiful :)You can click the pic for a larger view.

Biondina Update

I'm loving the skin tones and beautiful blending on this pattern. I'm only doing a detail of the full pattern, so I'm not sure when she'll be "done". This is about 5 1/2 pages.

Mirabilia Rose Celebration Happy Dance!!

She was such a delight to stitch. I stitched her on 28 count blue Jobelan. I've also included some closeups so you can see all the beautiful beadwork. Gorgeous!

More tenting on Biondina

So I continue the experiment with tenting on 25 count. It took some getting used to, but I like it! I'm not sure how much faster it really is when there are so many color changes, but I could definitely see it being faster for background work.
She's been a lot of fun to stitch, this is about 3 pages :)

Rose Celebration~Mirabilia

Well, I took a break from my GK Fruit, to work on my current Mira. Things have gotten so hectic this week, and Miras are so relaxing to stitch. I love my GK's but they definitely take more concentration :)
Rosey is almost done, just the bottom of her skirt, then some detail work, branches and such. I don't know if the photo shows it well, but this piece has a LOT of beading - and it's gorgeous!!!

IHSW Update

I got 3 more pages done in the last 2 weeks(so not just this past weekend). Four more and I will be at the halfway point :)
I expect my stitching speed to slow down as the new school year starts and we get muuuuuch busier.

Still Life Update August

So I'm officially 1/3 done, since I have finished 14 pages. I'm really enjoying the bright colors, they really pop against the dark background!

stitchy experiment

Hi all,
I decided to try a new experiment to see if I can do tent stitching, also known as petit-point. I've tried it before, unsuccessfully, but this time I tried evenweave. It made all the difference - much easier than the 24 count canvas I've tried in the past. So, here are my 2 experiments: The larger is on 22 count and the smaller is 25 count. I actually like them both, the 22 count is a bit easier to see, but the 25 is def better coverage. What do you all think?
The pattern is Golden Kite: Biondina.

New Golden Kite project

Well I started this new project : 1741 Still Life with Fruit
(yes, I'm a major sucker for overwhelmingly LARGE projects) I'm not doing too badly, - I started it June first 2012, and have just finished 11 pages as of today. There are a total of 42 pages, so once I hit 14 pages done - I'll be a third of  the way :))))

Here's what it will look like when done:

I just love the colors, and found it kinda whimsical.

Daughter Framed

I got Portrait of the Daughter back from Michaels last week. They really do an excellant job, and this only cost about 130$. I opted for no mat, because I like how she looks more like a painting this way.

EXTREME Happy Dance!!!! Portrait of the Daughter

Yay! I can't believe she's done!! I've been working on her on and off for years! Her name in real life was Rosalba Peale and she was the daughter of an American painter, well-known for this paintings of American Presidents in the 19th century.
The stats : Portrait of the Daughter, Pattern from Golden Kite, 16x16 on 18 count, two hundred colors, many blended. She's already shipped off for framing, I'll post a new pic when she comes home.

IHSW Update

First up is my progress on Mirabilia's Liliy of the Valley. I stitched the majority of it this past IHSW weekend. Such a quick and fun stitch, with enough bling to be REALLY fun!!

Also, I did two more pages on the bottom of Portrait of the Daughter from Golden Kite. I swear they took me longer than any other two pages in this pattern due to the huge amount of colors making up her collar and skin. The effect is so beautiful, though very much like a painting. Thanks for looking!

HAPPY DANCE!! first of 2012 :)

I finished Mirabilia Ros e Arbour. She was a delight to stitch. She ended up being bigger than I thought. I added tons of beads to her bodice and hem of her dress to add a little more bling. She's stitched on self-dyed 28 count monaco. Thanks for looking!

Some Project updates

I finally got back to my Chatelaines, and here is the updated Spring Knotgarden. I finished the pink and blue border around the triangles, and started the beading and stitching of the last part. I'm thinking about leaving off the grasses between the blackwork and the triangles, because I think it looks messy and because I hate backstitch!! :)

I also made a ton of progress on Mirabilia Rose Arbour. I really thought this one was a smaller piece, but no-its really a full size. There are acres of stitching in that skirt !!!!!

Portrait of the Daughter 21 page happy Dance

I can't believe I finished the 21st page of this beautiful pattern! The last few have gone quickly, probably because it was mostly background :) So, only one more row of full pages and one row partial pages.
